TOURNAMENT RULES

 REGISTRATION

Entry fee is $175.00 per entrant or $475.00 for each three-man team. All participants must have a valid Texas Saltwater Fishing license and abide by state regulations as required by Texas Parks and Wildlife. Incorrect, incomplete, illegible, denied credit card or insufficient funds associated with entry forms will be returned unprocessed and will void entry into the tournament.
ENTRY FEES, for a $175 individual or $475 for three-person team, Non Sponsor, WILL INCLUDE One (1) Castaway Fishing Rod, Tournament Shirt.

CAPTAIN’S MEETINGS

Friday August 4th  6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Floyd’s on the Water, 1301 Harborwalk Dr., Hitchcock, TX 77563, (409) 935-8060.  Attendance at the Captain’s Meetings is voluntary & is only being held to answer questions, for late registration and swag pickup.

DINNER

All entries include a meal which will begin around 1:30 pm Saturday August 5, 2017. There will also be a cash bar.
It is illegal to bring alcoholic beverages on the tournament grounds. We have a TABC license to serve alcohol.  A cash bar will be available. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.

PERMITTED FISHING LOCATIONS

(You must fish within these boundaries.) Tournament boundaries for Galveston Bay Complex are as follows: East Bay to Eastern Boundary of Hwy 124, Trinity Bay, Galveston Bay, West Bay, Chocolate Bay, Bastrop Bay, Christmas Bay, Drum Bay to Western Boundary of Hwy 332, and all adjacent back bays, lakes and tributaries. Boaters must launch from a boat ramp within these boundaries.

PRE-TOURNAMENT PRACTICE & COMMUNICATION

Tournament anglers may scout and fish tournament waters and share information until the point of departure for tournament competition. Tournament anglers’ communication with anyone except crewmates, pertaining to fishing, via verbal/nonverbal or any other device during the competition period is prohibited.

ELIGIBLE FISH: Redfish & Spotted Trout

Teams are comprised of three entrants                    

Each entrant/angler may submit for weigh-in:
Individual
1- Redfish measuring at least 20″ and up to 28″
1- Spotted sea trout at least 15″ not greater than 25”

TEAMS

3- Redfish measuring at least 20″ and up to 28″
5- Spotted sea trout at least 15″ not greater than 25”
Awards for Heaviest Redfish and Trout for Individuals in each category (Military, Men and Ladies). ALSO one Trophy for the Guide Boat (GUIDE) that brings in the heaviest stringer. In the event of a tie, length will prevail. Decisions of the weigh master are final.

Awards for 1st and 2nd place teams with the heaviest stringer. In the event of a tie, earliest team weighing in will prevail.
Any fish determined to be outside of the slot limit will not be weighed. NO EXCEPTIONS. NO EXCUSES. Fish will be measured with the mouth closed and with the tail pinched and turned to obtain the fish’s maximum overall length. The measurement will be from the tip of the snout to the extreme tip of the tail fin. Fish will be measured and weighed only once. No angler may manipulate the weight or length of any fish entered for the competition at any time during or prior to the tournament. Tournament standings shall be determined by the aggregate weight measured in pounds and 100ths of a pound of each entrant’s catch during the tournament. The measure master (bump man) & weigh master’s decisions shall be final in all matters and are not subject to appeal. ALL FISH ENTERED WILL BE MARKED AT WEIGH-IN.Tournament committee member’s interpretation & decisions made enforcing the tournament rules are final.

BAIT AND TACKLE

Any bait may be used. Lures, live and dead bait are allowed. Only one rod may be used at any time by a contestant. A cast must be fully retrieved before another rod is picked up. All fish entered into competition for prizes must have been caught and landed by the contestant on conventional rod, hook and line exclusively on the day of the tournament only. Trolling as a method of fishing is prohibited. Foul hooked fish shall not be eligible for competition.

START TIME & WEIGH-IN

ALL ENTRANTS MAY NOT LEAVE THE DOCK OR START FISHING PRIOR TO 6:00 AM THE DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT, SATURDAY, AUGUST 5, 2017. You may leave from any point of departure but must fish only within the tournament boundaries.
Weigh-in will be held at the HARBORWALK MARINA, 1445 Harborwalk Blvd., Hitchcock, TX 77563, phone (409) 935-3737. Tournament held rain or shine.

Weigh-in lines will open at 2:00pm. Saturday August 5, 2017.  YOU MUST BE IN LINE NO LATER THAN 3:00PM   TIE BREAKERS – In the event of two entrants having the identical weight, the ties shall be broken by the entrant with the earliest weigh-in time
REFUSAL – Tournament Committee reserves the right to refuse application of entry, with or without cause, at its sole discretion. Any applicant refused entry shall be entitled to a refund of their entry fee.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

RELEASE, HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNITY

In consideration of being allowed to enter the Texas Sentinels Operation Tight Lines Fishing Tournament, each person agrees and contracts to release, indemnify and hold harmless Texas Sentinels Foundation, its agents, officers, directors, employees, representatives, the tournament director, including indemnity for any negligent acts or omissions or the foregoing released and indemnified parties, from any and all liability, claims, or damages arising out of or in any manner whatsoever connected with the planning, operation or conduct of the tournament, and including but not limited to claims for personal injury, wrongful death, survival damages, property damage, or claims relating in any way to the awarding of prizes in the tournament. The parent or legal representative of any minor entering in, registering for or fishing in the tournament does further contract and agree for themselves and on behalf of said minor that this release and hold harmless agreement shall be binding upon any minor entering the tournament. Winners will be required to execute an additional release, indemnity and hold harmless agreement upon receipt of prize. Any controversy, claim or dispute arising out of or in any way relating to the tournament shall be settled by binding arbitration conducted in Houston, Harris County, Texas, in accordance with the commercial arbitration rules of the American Arbitration Association. Judgment on the award rendered by the arbitrator may be entered by a court of competent jurisdiction in accordance of the law. Should litigation and/or arbitration result between a participant and Texas Sentinels Foundation, it is agreed that if Texas Sentinels Foundation is the prevailing party in such litigation and/or arbitration, Texas Sentinels Foundation shall be entitled to recover reasonable attorney fees and all costs incurred in the arbitration and/or litigation from the other party to said arbitration and/or litigation.

11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Prize Squares Open

2:00 p.m. – Weigh-In Line Opens, Weigh-In Line Closes at 3:00 p.m.

1:30 p.m. – Food Ready & Service Begins

6:00 p.m. – Event Ends
